The Royal Wedding – William & Kate -

The Royal Wedding – William & Kate -    April 29, 2011

CONGRATULATIONS TO KATE & WILLIAM
What a beautiful morning this has been...I was up early watching the wedding of Kate & William...it was everything that I imagined and MORE.....Kate was simply STUNNING....what a beautiful couple...congrats to them and we wish you both a lifetime filled with happiness and love...~SLWE team

There were a few highlights of the day, I want to touch on.

Their New Titles have been given: William & Kate to be Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
Queen Elizabeth made her grandson William the Duke of Cambridge to mark the marriage of the second-in-line to the throne. Being a duke is the highest rank below that of monarch in the British nobility.
William, 28, will also have the additional title Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus.
The Ceremony: Ceremony Details Revealed
The Palace Unveiled Wedding Program With William and Kate’s Order of Service
The official program for the royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton was released by Buckingham Palace. The 27-page program included the full order of service, a personal message of thanks from the bride and groom, and a new black and white photograph of Will and Kate taken by engagement photographer and invited wedding guest Mario Testino.

The message from Prince William and Catherine reads, "We are both so delighted that you are able to join us in celebrating what we hope will be one of the happiest days of our lives. The affection shown to us by so many people during our engagement has been incredibly moving, and has touched us both deeply. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone most sincerely for their kindness."
The order of the service includes full details on the processions, music, hymns, prayers and reading.

The Dress: –by Sarah Burton, the creative director for Alexander McQueen
The veil was long, sheek, and modern, which showcased her hair. Her trained measured just over six feet. According to the official royal wedding website, the dress is made with "ivory and white satin gazar. The skirt echoes an opening flower, with white satin gazar arches and pleats. The ivory satin bodice, which is narrowed at the waist and padded at the hips, draws on the Victorian tradition of corsetry and is a hallmark of Alexander McQueen's designs. I thought the dress fit her body beautifully. The very tailored dress may remind some people of the dress, worn by a princess of another era, the late Grace Kelly of Monaco.
I thought Kate was absolutely beautiful. Despite the pressure, Kate carried the day with a look of poised and a decorum that matched the event.
Tiara: – The Cartier tiara Queen Elizabeth gave her to wear from her private collection.

The Kiss:  Prince William & Kate Balcony Kisses Complete Wedding
I thought it was a warm, sweet, perfect kiss. I think one of the most spontaneous and true kisses we seen from the royals. Who knew we would be in for a royal treat and witness a 2nd kiss! I must say it was a joy to watch Prince William being playful with Kate and blushing at times. The only thing is though, if you looked away from the TV screen for a moment, you probably missed it. It was a quick smooch. Kate turned to her groom, said something with a smile, and the prince reached over, rather suddenly, and gave her a very quick kiss.

The second kiss came just before the Royal Air Force flyover. Another first on a historic day: two kisses on the Buckingham Palace balcony by a newly married royal couple.

Maid of Honor Dress– Sister Pippa: She wore white!!
She wore a simple column dress and naturally styled hair. She looked beautiful in her dress as well. I thought it was a very bold move to have worn white as well. You never should want to nor do anything that will upstage the bride.  Having said that, Kate had no problem being center of attention.

Carriage Ride: The royal couple smiled broadly as they were driven to Buckingham Palace in the open-topped State Landau, a carriage built in 1902, escorted by four white horses and followed by scarlet-clad troops on horseback.

Royal Breakfast: Immediately following William and Kate’s balcony kiss, guests will join the royal couple at their wedding breakfast. The menu? Canapes and champagne!

Royal Wedding Cake:- Celebrity cake maker, Fiona Cairns will make the main cake. William & Kate chose two cakes. First they will have a “multi-tiered traditional fruit cake” with a floral design, followed by a chocolate biscuit cake that was one of Prince William’s favorites.

Hats, Hats, and more Hats: This wedding was all about the hats!
It wouldn’t be a royal wedding without the eccentric head gear. British women wear hats to weddings as a religious tradition. Check out the hats that made their way through the church…

My final words: Diana would have been proud
