REAL WEDDING WEDNESDAY: Crystal and Dolan Turner

Today’s Real Wedding Wednesday features a Maryland wedding that had a style of contemporary chic.  The wedding location was Hanover, Maryland and the ceremony took place at Saint Mark United Methodist Church, which is the groom’s home church.  The bride and groom, Crystal and DJ, hired Eunique Jones Photography as their photographers. My favorite elements? This couple’s common love for Chuck Taylor sneakers, therefore ordering custom sneakers for their whole bridal party, the place cards which doubled as gift boxes filled with  Ringpops candy for guests, tablescapes, couple’s cake table featuring frame photos of couple’s mothers, who both passed away during the year prior to their wedding, and everyone dancing the night the away.

Enjoy the view!

This couple met while DJ was delivering mail to Crystal's job.

Since Crystal is not a high heeled girl, she instead wore some blinged out Chuck Taylors on her big day. “I’m a jeans and tennis shoes girl,” says Crystal. “I love Converse sneakers and I knew when I got married I was wearing Chucks!”

The bride’s lovely bouquet of orchids and roses bears a stunning spectrum of purple and lavender blooms.

Crystal’s bridesmaids gave her this personalized hanger to hold her beautiful dress on her big day.

Jumping the broom

Lovely couple beaming with joy right after saying "I Do"

Favorite shot of the wedding: Wedding Party dance to James Brown, I Feel Good as
they exited out the church after the ceremony

Bride with her bridesmaids

It was very important to groom to get married in his family church

Custom ordered sneakers for the entire wedding party

What a vibrant looking reception.

Crystal’s place cards doubled as gift boxes filled with Ringpops candy for her guests

The couple ordered custom lighting to illuminate their dance floor with their initials, wedding date and the phrase, “Eat, Drink, and Be Married.” Love that!

Gorgeous Tablescape

The couple’s menu cards feature a few fun photos of the pair set inside stand-up frames. We love this idea!

The couples table featured frames of their mothers who had both passed away
during the year prior to their wedding.
A beautiful way display a memorium

Tuesday Tips

Look into venues that allow you to hire any caterer, not just one from their approved list (who may not fit your budget). Do the math before booking.

LeBron James and Longtime Girlfriend Savannah Brinson Are Engaged

YES!!!! Finally. I've waited with baited breath for years wondering when this was going to happen.  On New Years Day it finally happened.

NBA star, Lebron James and his longtime girlfriend, Savannah Brinson have gotten engaged. While attending a New Years Eve party, a private dinner hosted by Remy Martin V at the Shelbourne Hotel in Southbeach, James popped the question.  Just after midnight, James asked Brinson for her hand in marriage. He presented her with a beautiful pear-shaped diamond ring.

Aslam Bakshi, owner of Diamond Images, U.S.A., says "The ring is a  traditional Tiffany style ring with a pear shape diamond in the center along with two tapered diamond baguettes on each side. The center diamond should be at least 4-5 carats, with an approximate retail value of $300K."

Over the past weekend Brinson was found flashing her new bling while attending a Miami Heat game.

The couple are actually high school sweethearts and have two young sons together: Lebron James Jr., age 11, and Brice Maximus age 4.

We are very happy and excited for them! We hope their wedding is as Lavish as her ring!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday week! In my household, my husband and I enjoyed celebrating our son's first Christmas. So this was a very special time for us.  As well, we enjoyed having my family visit for the holiday, entertaining family and friends, seeing the children enjoy their gifts, and just relaxing.

Business Goals for 2012

As I reflect and evaluate my business ended for 2011 I know there are some changes that need to be made. Majority of 2011 was spent with me on maternity leave so I intentionally kept business at a minimum focusing on smaller scale events that I could commit some time to.  From a business standpoint I have plans to update our branding, website, and blog in 2012 to better showcase our professional planning, flawless coordination and distinctive event design.

For 2012, we will tour more venues in North Carolina and surrounding areas to keep our database current for our clients.  We will attend more networking events to keep in touch with our vendor contacts and establish new vendor connections.

We will also utilize socia media more effectively to market our company.

Thank you to our clients for allowing us to be part of such a special time in your life.  We are so very honored to have worked with you all. Because of you we're able to live our dream everyday. We're also thankful for the vendors we've had the priviledge to work with and/or meet in the past year.  We couldn't do anythis without you.

Best wishes to everyone in this New Year.
