Another NBA Player Tied the Knot

NBA Player, Amar’e Stoudemire, of the New York Knicks wed longtime girlfriend Alexis Welch on the infamous 12-12-12 in a private ceremony.  Their intimate wedding with only 12 guests took place on their rooftop. The lovely couple already has three kids and they also participated in the ceremony. Amar’e and Alexis are already planning a bigger wedding slated for this summer so all of their family and friends including Stoudemire’s teammates. It is reported that Alexis wore a custom made wedding dress while Amar’e wore a Calvin Klein suit.  Join us in congratulating the happy couple.

Thursday's Obsession- Cascading Floral Table Runner

Floral Table Runners are so HOT right now.  I am totally obsessed with the idea of having cascading wedding floral.  If you are seeking to create a big impact with your wedding flowers then this is the way to go.  Can you say “jaw-dropping”?!!

I will say to pull off such a beautiful effect it will require numerous flowers therefore could be a bit costly.  So my recommendation for a bride-on-a budget would be to do cascading table runners on only a few guest tables or only on the bride and groom’s sweetheart table.

The idea showcases perfect elegance. Check out the pics below. I promise they will take your breath away.

Enjoy the view!

As Seen On - Raleigh Wedding Blog

Check out a feature on Raleigh Wedding Blog highlighting the fabulous wedding of Natasha Evans & Shawn Farrington the Simply Lavish team had the pleasure of planning/coordinating. There was nothing dull about this event since we are on all edge to see if the weather for the day was going to hold out. It did indeed rain, however it was over a few hours before the start of our Botanical Garden Wedding.

Wedding Wednessday: Quick Glance- Botannical Garden

The Simply Lavish’s Botannical Garden couple tied the knot on October 7th at the JC Raulston Arboretum White Garden in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Before I was hired by my couple their wedding location was already chosen.  The one thing our bride dreamt for her special day was an outdoor wedding in a garden with a gazebo.  That was a very important element that was not to be altered.

The celebration of Natasha and Shawn’s nuptials was humble, intimate, and just perfect.  We were a bit nervous because there was rain in the forecast for the day, and my attempt to change the wedding location and go with our Plan B because of it, was met with a very determined bride to have an outdoor wedding by any means necessary! It did rain early in the morning that day but miraculously held back just in time for the wedding!

We so look forward to sharing our full recap and professional photos soon, but luckily we’re able to display several on-the-spot amateur snapshots below:

Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

So he POPPED the Question! And You said YES!! It is now time to decide who will be in your wedding party. Who will those special ladies be, who'll have the honor of joining you to shop for your bridal gown, listen to you when you're stressed (and you will be), will throw you a bridal shower/bachelorette party. On the day of your wedding, they will be the ones by your side helping you get dressed, making sure your hair and make up are flawless, and bustling your dress. Their most important job is celebrating you and keeping you calm during your engagement and up until the moment you say I DO.
What a great idea it will be if you Pop the question to your bridesmaid.  They would really appreciate the sentimental gesture and they will cherish the moment.

Here are a few fun and creative ideas/ways to request their honor of standing up for you on your special day.

Real Wedding Wednesday: Candace & Michael

Happy Wedding Wednesday! Today's Real Wedding features a couple who me in their high school choir, became lifelong friends,  and have been singing to each other ever since you can say.  The couple chose a wedding style of "Vintage Chic", and boy did they pull it off.  Their wedding location was in Jackson, Mississppi. The couple had a traditional ceremony at Black Chapel's M.B, where Michael plays as organist. My favorite elements?  The bridesmaids' custom tote bags matching their gowns, the personalization of the bride and groom's shoes, Candace wearing a fur shrug supporting her vintage look of the day, the bridal party being chauffered around throughout the city on the Fondren Express Trolley, Michael serenading his bride-to-be as she walked down the aisle, their getaway car, the wedding cake which also kept up with the vintage glam theme, wedding reception venue at an antebellum home.

Enjoy the view!

Too Cute

The bridal party traveled throughout the day in style, catching a ride on The Fondren Express trolley over to the Historic Fairview Inn in Jackson

Here the couple is enjoying their moments together as husband & wife

The wedding reception was held in antebellum home. Candace would no other way.

Thursday's Obsession: Parasols

I'm currently working with a bride who is looking for alternatives to her bridesmaids walking down the aisle with flowers as a way to curve her floral & design budget. So I got to researching some cost-effective and creative ways for her outdoor wedding.

The Choice:
PAPER PARASOLS
I realized parasols can be such a beautiful detail for any wedding and/or event.  They come in a multitude of colors, and in different sizes.  At weddings, specifically outdoor weddings, parasols can be given as wedding favors to your guest and come in handy for needing to shield the sun's heat. Believe me your family and friends will be thanking you for such consideration. Another way parasols can be used, is by having your bridesmaids carry them as they walk down the aisle, either open or closed.  It truly is a beautiful touch.

Other creative ways parasols can be used:  as unique centerpieces for your tablescapes,  great prop for engagement and wedding photo sessions, can be used literally at bridal/baby showers and as a decor item (like aligning down your wedding aisle with your coordinating colors).
