REAL WEDDING WEDNESDAY: Curtis & Carolina

Sorry I am so late with this one, but it was too beautiful not to post anyway!

Women always speak of having a dream wedding, sort of like the Royal Wedding. Unfortunately most of us can't afford to have that so we have it as nice as we can.
But for Carolina Williams (now Carolina Martin), she got her dream wedding last October as Curtis Martin (known as being one of the most consistent running backs in NFL history) spared no expense (as you can see by the pics) for their fairytale wedding.
The wedding took place at the Oheka Castle in Long Island, New York and their wedding guests are STILL buzzing about this once in a lifetime event. We wish the beautiful couple all the happiness in the world!!

Check out what their phenomenal photographer, Brett Matthews had to say:

I can honestly say I don’t know if I’ve ever seen another couple as in love as Curtis and Carolina. Their chemistry and affection is undeniable, and as you look over their images I’m sure you’ll come to the same conclusion: these two are completely in love! Oheka Castle was the absolute perfect setting for their wedding and we really couldn’t have imagined any part of their day being any different. Perfection from start to finish! Details to die for, elegance in every moment, amazing scenery thanks to mother nature’s Autumn colors, to say nothing of Carolina and Curtis being one of the most gorgeous couples we’ve ever trained our cameras on. We could never say enough about these two, so we’ll leave you with a few more images than usual, but we are certain you’ll be left wanting even more from their fabulous day! Congratulations again Carolina and Curtis!

EAT THE CAKE!

Since our Tuesday's Tip was focused on wedding cake and I have bit of a sweet tooth today, we thought we would feature some really fun and beautiful cakes. There's one problem though, when cakes look this good, its hard to watch them get cut into pieces.

This cake would be excellent for a Valentine's Day wedding

Absolutely gorgeous!

We love the monogram on this cake. Look closely at the pattern work done.

Huge fan of the intricate detailing of damask
It can be coordinated with a black/white damask table linen

The simplicity of this cake is what makes it so beautiful.
It would fit right in with a small wedding that has a rustic theme.

Can you say UNIQUE?! It's too small for a wedding, however  I see
having this one of kind cake for a bridal shower

Classic monogrammed cake with real flowers

Tuesday Tips

To make the most of your cake budget, order a small, custom tiered cake and supplement it with decorated sheet cakes that can be plated behind closed doors. Take that money you saved and apply it elsewhere.
Also be sure to taste your cake at a sample meeting so you know exactly what you're getting.

Happy Planning

Music Monday ~ Dangerously In Love

To celebrate Beyonce & Jay-Z a little bit more, I'm dedicating Music Monday to them.  Let's flashback to one of Beyonce's greatest hits & the best she ever performed it to me was at the Grammy Awards.  I absolutely love this song.

Congratulations: Beyonce & Jay-Z ~ PREGNANT!!

I have to step away from all things wedding right now to update with exciting news from one of my favorite celebrity couples. Last night during the 2011 MTV VMA's Beyonce revealed she is pregnant. Beyonce shockingly arrived on the Red Carpet wearing a beautiful orange Dolce & Gabanna dress that. During photo ops she showed that she was expecting.  At the end of her live performance, Beyonce shared for all to see her new baby bump.
From the team here at Simply Lavish Weddings & Events, congratulations to Beyonce & Jay-Z!!

Check out her live performace and the big reveal!!

Destination Wedding ~ St. Lucia

So you’re planning a Destination Wedding? Congratulations.

Planning a destination wedding can be very exciting but be aware that it comes with some unique challenges. You’re now going long distance and you don’t a have a local contact. You also might be planning a much smaller wedding because all of your family and friends won’t be able to travel abroad.

The most difficult step in planning a Destination Wedding is deciding on the location. There are thousands of options throughout the islands and along the coasts of Mexico & Central America.
Today we’re highlighting St. Lucia. Take a peak.

Situated on the Northwest point of St. Lucia, this tropical 56-acre resort includes spectacular ocean views, private luxury accommodation and spacious villa living. It offers a great beach with clear water and calm waves, and self-catering accommodations from 1 to 4 bedrooms. For extra privacy, there are a collection of Estate Villas on property as well.
Here are a few photos of the wedding ceremony locations available at Windjammer Landing:

Windjammer Landing has 4 pre-designed wedding packages starting at $999 and a great list of a la carte options to add on.

REAL WEDDING WEDNESDAY: Erykah & Ricky

After three years of long distance loving, this couple was ready to tie the knot. To make their wedding day even more memorable they decided to make their wedding theme on something they love—the Harlem Renaissance movement of the 1920s and early 1930s, an exciting time in America where jazz music exploded. Share their love.

Say Yes To The Dress..
A lovely tiered gown, found in a bridal shop in Ontario, Canada

I do love this dress by Pronovias

Erykah arrived in a vintage styled Rolls Royce

Groom looking rather dapper

and to seal it with a KISS!!

The bride had all her ladies wear loose finger waves & curls,
smokey eyes, and lots of bling

I absolutely love this picture. Very unique!

In line with the wedding theme, all male attendants wore
bow ties, blue velvet jackets

Reception tables were named after notable people
from that era's movement

This square three-tier white fondant cake with a gorgeous 1930s-style feather motif took our breath away.

What a beautiful portrait
